Things I learned today:
- Justin's day care is two doors down from his Junior Kindergarten class.
- Daniel plays just as readily with girls as with boys in the playground; boys accept him because they know he's a boy, and girls accept him because he looks like a girl.
- The first day of the year at an elementary school is a miracle of organization over chaos.
- I wasn't the only one who was getting worried about Guy after leaving him three messages in four days and telling myself that it was silly to think maybe he had also died and nobody knew since he now lives alone; Chris was telling himself the same thing.
He's fine, by the way - we had dinner together. I hope we can do this more regularly, and not just for us; he doesn't cook and I'm a little worried about his health. Living on TV dinners and other prepared stuff is not healthy for anyone, let alone a 73-year old man living alone. - Teaching a group of people how to use a computer application by sitting them down for two hours and telling them about it is a stupid, stupid, stupid waste of time.
- Getting the massive insurance money from my mom did make me cry after all. Hadn't cried about her death since... probably since the funeral. But seeing our debt get knocked down to pre-Chris' accident level, just like that... well, it sucked. The cheque coming in after me thinking the whole morning that I wished my mom could've seen Justin starting school really kind of brought home what a shitty substitute money is for a mother or grandmother.
- I'm still having faith issues.
- I remember now why I don't write fic much any more. It's hard.
- I also remember why I used to write it a lot. It's fun.
- I should get more sleep.

Date: 2004-09-09 05:44 am (UTC)Yeah, no kidding. I kept telling myself he was probably at the cottage or something (he was actually at Shirley & Percy's cottage) but a little niggly voice in my head kept thinking And what if he's not?
Anyway. All's well that ends well and all that jazz.
