OK, feeling better after a nap.

So. Today was supposed to consist of printing out my application and Drafting assignment, driving them down to campus, then chilling out and digging us out of the mound of filth we've accumulated in the last week as Chris has frantically worked on his Grand Rounds presentation and I've been buried in the Law Review application. I also had vague notions of maybe catching up on my readings for next week.

First off, the Queensway is hugely backed up, major accident. No problem. I've got my Drafting casebook, I'll read while I wait.

Start reading. Feeling slightly nauseated from lack of sleep, but trying to ignore it.

FUCK!!! There's a bloody example of how we're supposed to do the assignment I've got printed out and ready to hand in, and it's nothing like what I've got written. Crap.

No problem, I learned a lot from doing the work, can probably tweak it no problem once I'm on campus, still hand it in.

Check my application printout one last time. Minor corrections to be made. No problem.

Campus. Pay meter 40 minutes.

Hope to find printed materials to check some pinpoints I couldn't find electronically. After wandering around looking forlorn, I ask for help and end up doing a bit of a treasure hunt through the stacks. MAJOR props to myself for finding the ONE copy of our main case that actually has paragraphs numbered, AND finding an error in the citation on the application. This better be worth something big. Although the treasure hunt was kinda cool.

This is taking longer than I thought. Pay meter another 40 minutes. Two loonies left. Nausea getting stronger, but still under control.

The day takes a sharp downward turn right about here.

Treasure hunt comes up empty on the last cite. No problem, I'm almost done anyway. May as well make those final little changes to the printout.

No computers available in the lab.

No computer available in the main library.

One computer available has a stuck mouse.

Time is running out on my meter. Ottawa U has parking cops who lurk salivating next to the meters, and shriek in exultation the moment your time is up because they've just dinged you for $55.

Run outside, 1 minute left, put in my last loonies.

Meter eats them and burps.

Run to parking office and tell them of this tragedy. Get a free hour.

Run back to library, where the mouse of doom smirks at me. Try to edit my lousy little page. Word doesn't work. WordPad won't let me edit. Mouse hates me.

WordPad finally works.

Can't get the ^%$#@#$%^&*}*&ing %$@#!*&^*% miserable Franglais keyboard of doom to type " or '. No combination of keys works.

Friendly library lady finally figures it out - of course, it's the SHIFT-´ key (that's an accent aigu, BTW), how could I miss it?

My "free" hour is running out.

Finally manage to do my lousy little page. Three sentences have taken roughly an hour and frazzled me beyond repair.

Print.

Hand in.

Screw Drafting.

Run outside. Flee the Law building.

Get in car. Turn on radio, and an ad for peat moss or something tells me, "Don't forget, your lawn gets covered in ice and snow every winter."

"Dude!!" I scream at the radio. "This is CANADA!!! It's not like you can just FORGET that!!"

Passing students look at me oddly.

I go home.

Chris has something wonderful on the slow cooker, but my nausea is overwhelming and the smell of a roast? Not helpful.

Pass out.

Wake up.

Less nausea.

Write this.

Go get Daniel.

*hugs*

That sounds very not fun. I'm glad you're having less nausea, and I hope you feel all the way better soon!

O_O

::cocks her head to one side, stares some more::

Okay, you seriously need that Jedi-Rey drabble from me, and stat.

Will work on it after I take (read as: fail miserably) my history midterm tonight.

Argh.

Two loonies left

I read this and went, huh? When did loonies enter the story? B/c where I'm from, loonies = more than one crazy person.

Took me an embarrassingly long time to realize you were referring to Canadian coinage.

::peers:: You Canadians have weird money. ;)

::hugs::

You Canadians have weird money. ;)

The better to sink us down to the bottom of the Great Lakes if we ever fall overboard with $20 worth of change in our pockets.

It is one of my most enduring disappointments in my fellow Canadians that when we got the two dollar coin, we passed on the opportunity to get ourselves "doubloons" and instead ended up with "toonies".

::muttering:: Damn ignorant hosers, that's us.
