Jun. 13th, 2004 10:10 pmWent on a date last night. It had been waay too long without one, and little childfree contact because Chris was working on a major presentation most nights after the kids were asleep. So we dropped them off at Laine's, went to a Chinese Buffet, and caught Troy on the big screen.
Loved it. Although of course I had to turn off the canonish part of my mind, because, um, no. Patroclus was not Achilles' cousin. Briseis? Uh-uh. And as for Cassandra? I hear you ask Cassandra Who? My point exactly.
Still. As a fun piece of movie fluff, we loved it. It's too bad it was so bloody gory, though, because otherwise we would've totally rented it for Daniel when it came out on video. He'd be thrilled at the characters from Age of Titans duking it out on the big screen. However, we didn't think the mass carnage would be suitable for a seven year old.
Speaking of the seven year old, we really, really, really screwed up with Daniel today. He was invited to a friend's birthday party and we completely forgot. We apologized to him profusely, apologized to the kid's parents (the kid himself was asleep) and promised to try to make it up to them. So next weekend, I'm going to take Daniel and his friend to see either PoA or the Garfield movie. I've heard PoA is a lot darker than the first two HPs, so... we'll see. Daniel just about went into orbit when Chris suggested the movie, so I think he's secretly pretty happy that we forgot the party ;)
Must put boys to bed now.
