Happy anniversary to me & Chris :)

***

So Justin has been Stitch today. We went for a long bike ride out to the grocery store, and he was OK, but things deteriorated when we got home. So far he's punctured the wading pool (three times), torn up part of a tree, tried to destroy our chess set, and been removed from the company of others four times for excessive force.

I don't know how the hell I survived when this was all there was to him, with no breaks.

I also don't know how I can best deal with the fact that I live in a physically dangerous environment - namely, my family home. Daniel's not a problem, except for the fact that he's a little kid. He sometimes steps on me or bumps into me, but objectively speaking, considering that he's a little guy he's actually remarkably well-coordinated.

No, the problem is Justin and Chris. Justin is relentlessly rough, and Chris is just awkward. Both of them crash into me, elbow me, step on me, knock me aside, etc on an hourly basis. I realize neither of them do this out of malice, but it still gets wearisome. I even have bruises from this every so often (Justin more than Chris). And I just end up feeling like... I can tell myself intellectually that this is nothing against me - I mean, Chris causes himself damage all the time too - but it's hard not to feel invisible around here. Like, if I registered on their radar, they wouldn't try to walk/move through the space I am currently inhabiting. They wouldn't back into me. Or step on me. All the time.

Oh well. Must go make dinner now.

Soccer: Hoo-yah!

  • Our team: no subs.
  • Theirs: 3 subs.
  • Weather: Hot-esque.
  • Sun: in our eyes first half.
  • 1st half goalie: rocked.
  • 2nd half goalie: rocked.
  • Field lines: what field lines? We don't need no stinking field lines!
  • Physical ambiance: a liittle rough (trips, hits, I blocked three balls cold with my non-existent uterus)
  • Emotional ambiance: very friendly, as both sides kept getting called for fouls we had no idea we were committing.
  • Zen moment 1: Elena (D) doing a one-woman Defense line routine for about 5 minutes
  • Zen moment 2: Karen (F) taking the ball from midline to goal all by herself, as every forward and mid ran up the field yelling encouragement but not actually doing a damn thing to help her out because we were too far away and blocked by the entire green team
  • Score: 2:0, for us.
