Daniel's last day of school. Very nice report card - mostly B-B+, a few scattered As, one C. And under 'behaviour,' almost all G (Good). This is a marked improvement over his first report card, which was mostly C-B, and mostly N for 'Needs improvement.'
Justin had his ballet recital. Went beautifully - he was the only little dancer in his class who didn't get distracted or wander around, and he sure had a lot of fun. So glad Chris filmed it, so we can show it to my mom today.
Helped Guy some more. My mother is deteriorating so quickly it's frightening. She's gone from being able to sit downstairs and walk with only minimal assistance, to being in bed all day and needing somebody to practically carry her up the stairs, in a little over a week. Yesterday Guy had to support her on one side while she clutched on to the railing on the other side and I lifted her feet up each step.
Home care is coming in to see them sometime soon, and she's going to get a palliative care doctor.
It seems so odd to still be doing such normal things as getting report cards and going to a dance recital when all of this is going on with my mother. Comforting in a way, but also quite disturbing.
We've been reading children's books that deal with death to the kids. Tonight we're going to let them know what's happening. I know they've realized something is wrong - we're going to visit my mother every day, and they can see how sick she is, and I'm sure they've overheard some of our conversations. But I don't know if they have any idea how serious her condition is.
