Wow - how to make you realize your day is going pretty damn well: read about somebody else's car accident. Suddenly the rather slow pace of our seminar this morning and the rather painful obviousness of my ADR readings don't seem all that annoying.

I must say, my profs this year, while competent and nice, are not nearly as mesmerizing as last year's Contracts and Property profs. Which is not surprising, as those two were among the best in the faculty - you know, the kind whose students rave about them, the kind who get teaching awards every year, etc. However, in terms of how I feel about my classes in general, I'm waay happier this year. I may have to put up with a few rather tedious and slow hours a week, but since the bulk of my course time is spent reading or doing assignments, I'll gladly trade 3 hours of tedium per for 6-9 hours of interesting readings, in every class.

ADR readings this week, though... ouch. We're covering Active Listening. I volunteered at a crisis centre for four years, went through 36 hours of training in Active Listening, went on to use it and train new volunteers in it, then went on to do numerous workshops in it as Community Outreach Executive for two years. So, this whole "reflecting, reframing, questioning, empowering" stuff? I'm all over it. I was all over it when most of my classmates were just learning cursive writing. So spare me. Please.

Oh well. Off to lunch, then ADR and Drafting.

Later Edit: Would anybody happen to have a copy of a piece of writing called "The Blackwoman's Guide to the Truth"? I think it's also titled the "Good Brother Rules" or something like that. I read it ages ago in a collection called Mad At Miles, and photocopied it and loved it to death, but am now unable to find it. Makes me very sad.
