If he had been born 400 years ago in Europe, on a day like today I might have gone to the closest monastery and asked how many sheep I'd have to gift them in order for them to take him in. And if I didn't have enough sheep for the monastery, I'd have gone to the local bricklayer and ask if he was taking in apprentices. And then to the local shepherd and ask the same thing. And if all else failed, I would have given him a sling and pointed him at the forest and told him to fend for himself.

If he had been born a millenia ago, say in a Celtic village, on a day like today the other village mothers would have been admiring me for having brought such a strong and energetic little man into their village, and looked forward to the day when he would help protect us from Vikings and/or brought home many wild boars. They might even be trying to see if we could come to an understanding about encouraging Justin to pick one of their daughters for a wife when he grew up.

If he'd been born a Viking, he would currently be out marauding. Successfully.

Unfortunately, he's living in suburban Canada in 2004.

Anybody want to take him in?

::sound of crickets chirping::

Didn't think so.
