Our house continues to tidy itself. With a bit of help from me. I'm sorting through crap that hasn't been sorted in years, and tossing out quite a bit. Perhaps I should join FlyLady.

Also: finally started on [livejournal.com profile] thursday100plus website, and it's a lot more complex than I thought it would be. Have so far made pages for the first eight challenges. Now that I've got a technique down, the rest will go a little quicker, but it's still going to take a while. Would like to post them, but don't have enough webspace right now.

Also: Word spellchecker recognizes "Hippogriff". Wha?

Homeschooling Friday tomorrow.

Tsunami fundraising concert Sunday, May 1, here be blurb for anybody who happens to be in Ottawa this Sunday night:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a fundraising event, with the proceeds to be split between the tsunami relief effort and the local food banks. There's no cost for tickets but audience members are asked to give a monetary donation. There are at least twelve choirs performing but this time we will perform two mass numbers. We also will be asked to bring some treats (e.g. squares, crackers and cheese, fruit) for a small reception afterwards.
Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints, on 6255 Cumorah Dr. in Orleans, (take Jeanne d'Arc then turn right on Orleans Blvd, then left on Maple Run Ave and then left on Cumorah Dr. - if you get to Innes you've gone too far)
STOP CALLING US!!!
Took my annoyance and made a little hat out of it.
I called the Tories (Toll free: (866) 808-8407, Phone: (613) 755-2000) and talked to a very nice lady who said Oh dear and connected me to a very nice man who said How can I help you, and I told them my tale of woe annoyance. Told the nice man that we will not be voting Conservative, ever, in large part because we believe in gay rights. To which he responded, "The Conservatives also believe in gay rights, ma'am, we just believe that marriage should be reserved for heterosexual couples only."
"That's nice," said I, "but to me that's not really believing in equal rights. And in any case, that's not the point. The point is that we don't want to be called any more."
"Yes ma'am. Can I get your name and phone number, then?"
"Sure!"
Gave him our particulars, told him we were getting to the point where we would actually, really, sue if called again, and thanked him for his time.
Then went to the Conservative website, and got in touch with them at
http://conservative.ca/english/touch.asp
where I filled in the following:
I have been called many times by the Conservative Party, and the last three times I have asked, very clearly, to be put on your Do Not Call list.
My husband and I will not vote Conservative. We do not agree with the Conservative stance on same-sex marriage. We do not wish to keep getting calls. We would like you to put us on a Do Not Call list and will actually take the local campaign office (or whoever keeps ignoring our requests to be left alone) to court if we are called again.
Thank you.
So. There we go. If they call again, I'll be subpoenaing y'all as witnesses and submitting my lj entries into evidence of the mental distress I have been subjected to over this issue.
Which probably means I should go through my lj and discreetly take down anything that may be used to incriminate me in a court of law ;)
Just got an e-mail from the Law Review asking me to make sure my name is spelled right for the Volume 36 edition. Hee :)
Edit: That's for being Assistant Editor, not published author or anything. I'm still nerdishly pleased, though ;)
I must find that Blue's Clues/Homicide: Life On the Streets crossover fic. Chris will get it now that he's watched 5 seasons worth of DVDs with me.
Season 5 is heartbreaking for the beginning of the Kellerman Angst. My second favourite character (after Bayliss) starts a long, depressing downward plunge. Then Season 6 starts, and the continued plunge makes Season 5 look pretty darn cheerful, from a strictly Kellerman POV.
And yet, I like Falsone, who is blamed for much of said plunge. Must not let anyone at [livejournal.com profile] eromitlab know my shame. [livejournal.com profile] shellmidwife, shh. Don't tell.
Watched the commentary for The Documentary and learned lots of interesting things, among them that Reed Diamond (Mike Kellerman) and the Guy Who Plays Brodie (Brodie) hated each other. Because there's a scene where Kellerman gives Brodie a big hug and the director (or writer?) says something like, "Now there's acting! Those two actors hated each other, just couldn't stand each other. Wow."
And speaking of Kellerman, I went looking for god only knows what the other day and ended up finding an old e-mail where I explained Kellerman to Leslie Rampey:
Kellerman was the first 'rookie' after Bayliss. He became Meldrick Lewis' partner after Crosetti died, and lo there were many, many slashfics starring the two. Most of them emphasizing Lewis' [caramel, cafe au lait, etc] [hand, arms, cheek, whatever] [clasped, entwined, resting against, yadda yadda] Kellerman's [fair, lightly dusted with freckles, you get the drift] [body part]. And Lewis' [ebony, chocolate, etc] eyes locked with Kellerman's [azure, emerald, clear, etc] eyes.
I don't know why, but Leslie never asked me to send her links to any of those fics. No accounting for tastes, I guess ;)
