ciroccoj: (journey)
Of my articles, that is. Not sure how to feel about that. On the one hand, in many ways it's going much better than I could have hoped. I really like the people I'm working with, I like the work itself, the kids are coping well with school, more or less, and my articles are nowhere near the same level of stress on the family that Chris' residency was. Not just because so far it's been 15 weeks, as opposed to, like, seven years. The hours are very sane and doable, and mostly pretty predictable. We are not all falling apart.

But I miss the kids, miss taekwon-do and choir way more than I thought I would, miss moving, miss our home school friends, miss my home, miss being online... and all I've done is only one third of what I have to do. Take all the work done, times it by two, and that's what's still left to be done. Which is not terribly encouraging.

I'm hoping this is probably partly due to the time change. I always get a little blue when all of a sudden night time comes way too early. Yesterday I left work at 5:00PM and it was already full dark night.

Wonder how much of this mood has to do with getting a call the other day telling me a close friend just lost her brother. He was 29. Kind of puts things in perspective; I'm whining about work and the dark, and she's dealing with losing her only brother.

::sigh::

Next week we start the first trial I will have been part of. I've been to bail hearings and bail variations and sentencings and pretrials, but never an actual "guilty or not guilty" trial. Looking forward to it.

I'm also going back to TKD, to get teaching credits for my black belt, and to get back in the swing of things for our black stripe tests in December. It'll only be once a week, but hopefully that'll help.

Or maybe it'll totally be the straw that breaks the camel's back and we'll all collapse. Who knows.

On that cheery note, off to Clean All the Things for D&D!

And try to figure out what we can do for my friend and her family, write to our lawyers, read material for the trial, make up next week's menu, laundry, write a summary factum, prepare for egg nog, clean the fridge, change the bed linens, call my aunts, find the Fort Henry forms, listen to two hours of an interview, answer e-mails...
