- Saw the new Narnia movie today. Pretty good. Actually, more than pretty good, but... neither of the sequels has lived up to the first one, and it's a little disappointing. Plus Caspian somehow went from Spanish to British, which seems a small thing, but it bugged me every time he opened his mouth, because... why? And Reepicheep wasn't voiced by Eddie Izzard. Again... why? And then there was a whole underlying plotline that wasn't in the book...
None of those was a major deal. Or, they wouldn't have been, if the movie had been spectacular. As it was, they - and a few other minor bothers - collectively bugged me a little.
OTOH, Eustace was hilarious. And the acting and cinematography and special effects were excellent, as usual. I'm glad we saw it in the theatre, and we'll definitely be buying it when it comes out on video.
( Trailer ) - Saw Toy Story 3 the other day, again, as the boys got it for Christmas. Loved it as much as the first time. And Daniel remembered something I'd totally forgotten: when we saw it in the theatre, there was a little kid (maybe 4-7?) sitting near us who we decided was voicing what the whole audience was feeling at certain points:
"She's just like Andy was!"
"Andy's taller than his mom!"
"Oh wow - Andy's driving a car?"
( Trailer ) - The Kanata Theatre movie poster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows says, "Parts 1 and 2: In 3D!!"
::sigh:: Yeah, I bet there was some weeping in the marketing department when they realized Part 1 would not be 3D. Still. Can't somebody just kinda... scratch out the "Part 1" bit of the poster? Maybe put some duct tape over it?
( Trailer ) - I see Pirates of the Caribbean 4 now has a name: On Stranger Tides :) But still no William or Elizabeth :(
Don't know if we'll see it before it comes out on video. I liked #2 and loved #3, but both of them dimmed the glow of #1 for me a bit. There were just so many movie perfection moments in that one that the next two had too much to live up to, IMHO.
