Homeschooling Friday #4
Oct. 8th, 2004 02:41 pmSotired. Soverytired.
- Went to the Supreme Court with Daniel, but the presentations for the gay marriage reference were all done so we took a tour of the courthouse instead. Showed Daniel the Hall of Judges Past. My word but that was a lot of old male whiteness on display.
- Children's Museum with Monique, Noah and Oscar. Nice to catch up with Monique again - I think it's been a few months. Oscar has gone through a growth spurt.
- Sushi for lunch, outside the museum, with a great view of the river, Major's Hill Park, and the Parliament Buildings.
- Choir, where we worked on rhythm - specifically, not being tied to the metronome. We even danced a little. I had a sudden flashback to this Wednesday's grown-up choir, though - Kurt was trying to get us to feel the rhythm in African Celebration, which was a rather sad exercise considering the fact that we are very, very white. It was like The Rhythm flatly refused to have anything to do with us, just on principle.
- Post-choir, I tried to work on Daniel's costume only to find that the sewing machine has taken a sudden dislike to me.
- Walked to school to pick up Justin, walked back. It's fully fall.
- Was going to write about what the three speakers I saw actually said yesterday (summary: gay marriage = bad) and our date last night (summary: Star of India = yummee and Bourne Supremacy = squee - although Matt Damon really, really needed to put on a hat or something, especially when his picture had been sent to police stations around the world) but now I just want to eat. Possibly more later, possibly not.

Date: 2004-10-09 03:51 pm (UTC)Hee - well, this Latina was perhaps overwhelmed by the sheer weight of 30+ mostly middle-aged Ontarian WASPs earnestly trying to "feel" Zulu and Xhosa rhythms, bobbing randomly like rubber duckies in a bathtub. I'm sure any self-respecting Zulu or Xhosa would've demanded we cease and desist immediately, after recovering from hysterics. Very sad.
