You know the LOTR DVDs have about a gigazillion extras, right? Behind the scenes, commentaries, etc etc. And many of them are pretty cool, although the mutual admiration and self-congratulation sometimes gets tedious. Well, Chris was on call yesterday so at bedtime I went looking for stuff I hadn't seen before, and happened across the National Geographic Special, "Beyond the Movie - The Lord of the Rings." And... um... well...

Interesting concept, and relatively cool stuff. But I didn't quite get why it was so important to keep tying in everything in LOTR to real history. The matchups were amusing, though.

Battle of Middle Earth = Scots v English. Except that the Scots, um, kinda lost.
Aragorn = William Wallace (Braveheart) and Teddy Roosevelt. ?
