Whereas and Hereby and All That Burlesque
Nov. 11th, 2004 02:59 pmWent to my fourth possible shrinky-type dude, (hopefully) the last in a long line of shrinky people. Sure hope this works out, because I don't think I can really take yet another dud. Having already gone through Dr. "You're About to Commit Suicide And Why Don't You Believe in God?," then Dr. "You're Just Fine And Whatever Is Wrong With You Is Not Going To Get Better," then Dr. "Your Child Is A Hooligan Because You're A Bad Mother And You Must Escape The Prison Of Your Past," I think I may be due for a break here. We'll see.

From my Drafting readings: ... in 1990, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Banker's Association issued a report called "The Decline and Fall of Gobbledygook: Report On Plain Language Documentation." ... Ironically the first word of the resolution was "Whereas."

Looking through old family pictures, I found tangible proof that marital breakdown has been the cause of social and moral disintigration in families for far longer than was previously supposed. Compare these two pictures of a 19th century family before and after the disappearance of the father figure:

Actually, that's me and my parents in the first pic and me, my mom, and
ninja_kat in the second. Hee :)

Date: 2004-11-11 06:55 pm (UTC)What made it even harder to maintain the look was that the portrait place was set up on a sort of elevated platform at the Ex, so that other people wandering past would get drawn in and want their pictures taken too. It's hard to keep a straight face when you can hear and see people pointing and laughing ;)

Date: 2004-11-11 09:19 pm (UTC)These are wonderful pictures. Your mom is gorgeous (even though 'in character' here). And those are some gams you've got, CJ!
Your mom is cool. I said that out loud, and I know she can hear me.

Date: 2004-11-12 04:06 pm (UTC)Funny bit: Last night after I left that comment, it occurred to me that a title for the second picture could be: "Klondike Julia and her two best moneymakers, Lotus Petal and Jimmy Sue, 1879 [courtesy of the Klondike Chamber of Commerce Women's Auxiliary] ::snk::

"Klondike Julia and her two best moneymakers, Lotus Petal and Jimmy Sue, 1879"
LOL!! I must figure out how to write that in in proper sepia Western-style script :)
