King of Kings
Nov. 24th, 2004 10:01 pmUm, yeah. So about the soprano part of the Hallelujah Chorus? It makes me feel privileged to sing in a choir, and grateful that I'm a soprano. Although I wouldn't be surprised if altos, tenors, and basses felt the same way. It's just such unbelievably powerful music.

Date: 2004-11-24 11:50 pm (UTC)Also I think it was during the Hallelujah chorus rehearsal that a choir director told a story about this professional singer who was an atheist, they were recording music for a movie, one of those things where the choir sings, and the camera pans up into the clouds kind of thing. Anyway they are playing back and it's comeing out of this huge speaker and the tenor is singing back at the speakers and he can't hear himself over the speakers and after the plaayback is over he turns around and says. "I believe! I believe!"
Maybe you had to be there for Dr McEwen's delivery, the man was about 6'7" dark haired and he had a bushy mustache. I described him to a former boyfriend of mine who was about to adution as the choir's accompaniest. I told Danny McEwen looked like Groucho Marx on stilts. Danny almost didn't forgive me becasue he nearly laughed in the man's face because the describtion was so apt.
Ah sorry for going on and on it's late and you've hit a vein of memories and the cough medicine's doing something too.
Let me add my vote!
