The quotes are from Frasher v. State, 3 Tex. Ct. App. 263, 275 (1877), Scott v. State, 39 Ga. 321, 326 (1869), and Scott v. Georgia, 39 Ga. 321, 323 (1869) - all against interracial marriage. All quoted or appealed to the Bible, including
Innerezding.
- [Marriage] is a public institution established by God himself, is recognized in all Christian and civilized nations, and is essential to the peace, happiness, and well being of society.
- Such equality does not in fact exist, and it never can. The God of nature made it otherwise, and no human law can produce it, and no human tribunal can enforce it.
- "Our daily observation shows us that the offspring of these unnatural connections are generally sickly and effeminate, and that they are inferior in physical development and strength..."

And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix." [This last is from Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967), quoted from the trial judge who convicted the Lovings of violating Virginia's ban on interracial marriages and sentenced them to 25 years probation on the condition that they not return to Virginia together for those 25 years.
