Daniel is marching around downstairs, singing "All Star". We don't have a copy of the song at home. The last time I recall hearing it was in a mall a few months ago. And yet somehow, Daniel knows all the words. It's hilarious.
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb

I can't discuss the motherhood article
Date: 2005-02-27 02:24 pm (UTC)Look - raising children is work. It is also a sacred responsibility. Your child comes before you for a while. There will be a season where their needs are paramount. When they're about 5 that starts to change and you can be more balanced. Your needs are always important, don't get me wrong, but they just aren't at the same level.
Women live their lives in chapters, and if you're in the Small Children chapter, suck it up and be a good mama. Not an over-programmed, grasping, status seeking mama - a mama who worries about classes and flashcards and getting into 'the right preschool'. Nope. Those mamas miss the point and damage themselves and their kids. Mamas need to chill out. You don't live vicariously through your kids. Be a mama who plays a little, bakes a little, talks a lot. A mother whose heart is open to the child for hours a day.
That's my diatribe. I don't know if it has anything to do with the article. :-)
