the headlines in the papers here in Denver made me think of my law school internet friends. There were two appeals cases made the headlines same day so they split the page. In one a young woman won a new trial after being in prison for 7 years. Get this she was on death row because while she was handicuffed in the back of a police vehicle her accomplice killed a police officer and then killed himself. She was convicted under the felony murder law however was given a new trial by the state supreeme court because rather than saying the Colorado has a poorly worded felony murder law (especially for the accomplice) they said the trial judge gave a poorly worded charge to the jury (funny thing is that judge is nota member of the Colorado spreme court that made this ruling).

In the other case a rapist murder who also left a good samaritan paralized for life will not be put to death because the jury consulted the Bible! (According to a jurist they looked up the passage about an eye for an eye).

Don't you love the law!

oops the second thought was I almost got to tour with a choir doing Carmina Burana then my dad got sick

Ooh - I would love to sing that. My Kingston choir was going to do it, but decided to do a tribute to Cole Porter instead.
