I've avoided HP fic almost entirely--I'm too squicked I hear you. I was fantastically disturbed by a lot of it for the longest time too, and some of it still eeps me hugely.
At one point I realized a weird facet of my squick: while I was not interested in stories about the people from Harry's parents' generations as Hogwarts students, the idea of people reading and writing about, say, James Potter and Lily Evans 'discovering' each other at age 16 didn't bother me at all. Harry and Hermione 'discovering' each other at age 26? EEEEWWW!!!
