The Quotable Daniel
Jun. 25th, 2003 02:47 pmDaniel's last day of school is today. So he made a card for his teacher, which read:
Dear Madame Marie-Anne:
Thank you for being a wonderful teacher!
Although you did punish me a lot, I know it was for my own good.
Then he signed his name, and made her a check mark, happy face, and left some free space. "So that she can draw on it. When she retires."
I sure hope he has the same kind of rapport with next year's teacher. It made such a difference that she liked him despite his... challenging nature. It made him like her, and it made him do his best, even though his best often involved freaking out or goofing off. But at least she could see that he was trying to please her, and could relate to him as a neat kid with some issues, rather than a wearisome thorn in her side.
More quotable Daniel: we're grocery shopping and he finds one of those mondo-huge 12-bar KitKats. He pulls it out with an amazed look on his face, and says, "NOBODY could eat THIS much chocolate!! (pause) Except maybe Justin."
