Jun. 27th, 2003 04:13 pmSo nice that it's not so *&%$# hot out today.
Went to the Children's Museum yesterday with the kids. There was a lady telling a story about The Land of the Lost Socks, very cute. At one point she asked for a parent volunteer to come up and help her, because she had a clothesline and needed somebody to put pairs of socks on it. She picked me out and Daniel jumped up and down, all excited, yelling, "That's MY Mama!!"
So funny to think that in a few years, he'll probably be mortified to be seen with me. "Mom, can I get a ride to school? And, uh, would you mind letting me off like a block before we get there?"
Anyway. Then she asked Daniel to come up and pick a sock from her basket, to give to me. Then she asked another kid. Then she asked Justin.
"That's MY LITTLE BROTHER!!"
And another kid. And another kid. And Noah, a friend of Daniel's.
"That's MY FRIEND NOAH!!"
"Boy, you have a lot of people here with you today, don't you?" she asked, over the chuckles from the other parents.
I love watching Justin's face when he's listening to stories. He had a look of absolute rapt attention, eyes wide, mouth slightly open, throughout. He did get a little upset at one point, though, because the storyteller asked them to make little smiles, then great big smiles, and he said, "But we're LITTLE! We CAN'T make BIG smiles!" She reassured him that his smile was big enough.
And then his smile at the part of the story where the King of Socks finds his beloved, long-lost Queen... I wish I'd had my camera. He was totally thrilled.
On a totally unrelated note, I got AIM going. Thanks,
tobiascharity! Apparently somebody else has the name "cirocco". OK, no problem. Somebody else has "ciroccojones." Bah, humbug. Somebody else has "ciroccoj". What the...? So I had to be ciroccoj2002, like my e-mail. How annoying.
On another totally unrelated note, I got Plain Sight Exception 13 finished and posted, am working through Promises ch 4's betaing (thanks,
gypsumoon!) and will be working to make Promises ch 5 ready for other human eyes to set upon without going blind from the sheer incoherence of it all.
Oh, and TMI Alert: entering Day 19 of this current period. Will this never, ever end?
