OLR & Egale & Winterpeg

ciroccojDamn, we're just about to leave and I just got two pieces of mail that left me grinning from ear to ear and wishing for the time to scan them in and share with my flist :)
The first was the latest edition of the Ottawa Law Review, with my name on it as one of the junior editors. And I think it's OK to say now what I figured out during the supposedly 'blind' process of editing; that the article I worked on was written by one of my profs from first year. Hee!
The second was a letter from Egale Canada, thanking the people who contributed money and/or called/e-mailed/wrote to Parliament during the Gay Marriage Bill debates. Headline: "We Won!" Concluding sentence: "We will be proud, as Canadians, that we rejected rejection, that we ended exclusion, that we said to LGBT people: there are no second-class Canadians, you are full members of the community, without caveat or exceptions."
Which... well, I wish. Still. Pretty significant step in the right direction, IMHO.
Anyway, we're on our way out to the airport, and will be in Winnipeg* by the end of the day. There for about four days for Chris' dad's wedding, then back here for half a day, then off to go camping with Todd & Susan & Turtle & Zany. Should be back and settled in by September 3. So if I seem rather more absent than usual, that's why. Wish us luck!
* BTW, Chris informs me that I cannot call myself a true Canadian if I don't call it Winterpeg.
