ciroccoj: (bad day)

OK, who has any idea where that quote is from?

Alternately, who knows the contents of Eddie Murphy's first onscreen scene?

My kids know both. The other day, Daniel realized that the voice of Mushu on Mulan is the same as the voice of Donkey on Shrek. Which led to a discussion of Eddie Murphy, who he is, what he's done with his career, etc etc. Which led me to explain to Daniel why it is that once in a while, Chris and I mutter "C-I-L-L mah chil-dren!"

Daniel told Justin, and ever since then, at random points of the day, they both break out in gleeful "C-I-L-L" chants.

I love my kids.

I love my kids ever so much when it's time to put them away for the night. Especially after a day like today, which involved driving for a couple of hours in our hot hot car, visiting two different Bulk Barns and Scholar's Choice stores, not baking an organic granola-flavoured blueberry cake (which was the whole reason we'd driven to two Bulk Barns), and demonstrations of just how well behaved my children can be when the fear of God is put into them, after they've been behaving like pesky grabby bratty little hooligans and I've informed them that the NEXT SMIDGEN of misbehaviour will bring the roof down upon them. And then the next smidgen is smidged. And the roof comes down, in the form of "All right, no blueberry cake, no toys from Scholar's Choice, you two will SIT here and BE SILENT and if I hear one word out of either of you there will be no treat with dinner and no story at bedtime DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"

Big eyes and nods. And not a peep out of them for the next two shopping stops.

Surprisingly, the day improved markedly after that. Here's hoping tomorrow will contain as much cheer and laughter as today did, without the brattiness and martinet-like threats that preceeded them.

That would be awesome! Do you have some way of e-sending it, or is it physical copy-only?

Physical only...although...I can see if I can make it online. Hmmm, a test :-) Anyway, I have your snail mail addy and when I get my new software this week, I can make you a copy and send it on (it's part of the SNL festival so you also get the unbelievably hysterical men's synchronized swimming sketch, which has to be seen to be believed). And I definitely can give you the full transcript (hey, I did it for a drama class :-) )

I don't think it was his first time on SNL--first season, yes, but his first appearance was as either Little Richard Simmons or James Brown's Hot Tub...

You haven't seen 48 Hours? Or you didn't realize it was his first movie? If you haven't seen it, you HAVE to! It's incredibly foul mouthed and unbelievably violent but it's a fantastic movie--one big chase scene but absolutely funny plus James Horner's score is amazing (it was before he was JAMES HORNER and I wish it was on CD!) And it's the only movie I think Nick Nolte is even remotely sexy in--he's just like this rampaging lion in it. Plus Jonathan Banks, Denise Crosby in a cameo, James Remar...

"There's a new sheriff in town and his name is Reggie Hammond. Y'all be cool, right on."
