Meme. Had to.
Aug. 23rd, 2006 10:11 pmCollege: Queen's University in Kingston.
When you attended, where did you live?
Who was your roommate?
Ever get in trouble in the dorms? Hm... don't think so.
Phone number? There was an eight in there somewhere. And some fives. Possibly a three.
First party attended? Frosh Week Drunkfest. There was Purple Jesus, the traditional drink of Queen's1. I had one swallow and nearly hurled.
Favourite pizza place? Papa's.
Favourite place to go out to eat? Damn, I don't know. Mac-Corry Hall. Although Ban Righ was a nice cafeteria and Leonard Hall served swill.
Did you go to the library? On occasion.
What was your favourite floor you'd always be on? Depends on the year. In first year it was 9th floor Wally, where I lived.
Where did you buy your books? Used from fliers hanging in the halls. Or the bookstore.
Play any sports? Ick. I think I tried to do Aikido for a bit. Didn't last.
Ever attend a sporting event? Yes! Fourth year I attended a football game and purpled myself2!! I was so proud.
In any clubs? I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. No, really. It was anonymous. We even had secret names and a secret knock and everything.
Ever attend a concert or comedic performance? Moxy Fruvous at Dollar Bills and AJs. Spirit of the West, too. Missed the Arrogant Worms and still hate myself for it.
Favourite professors? My first year prof for History of the Minds of Great White Western Men. And my Jewish History prof. And the computer prof who told me my recursive stacking algorithm was "cute."
Favourite night to go out on and where? Nowhere.
Where did you get coffee? Didn't drink coffee. Still don't.
Favourite Year of Halloween? Huh?
Favourite memory? Just hanging out with my friends, in res or at John Orr Tower. Some good times at That Place That I Can't Reveal, doing stuff I Can't Talk About.
Ever had a job? Tour guide and Residence Don. Tour guiding was cool. Residence Don, I would seriously prostitute myself to skinheads before doing that job again.
What do you hate about your college? Too much drunkeness, too much privilege, too much whiteness.
What do you love most about it? Hell of a good time.
Where would you believe is the best location to live in? Res in first year, ghetto in second, then with friends. John Orr Tower was pretty cool.
Graduated or still attending? ROFLMAO!!! B.A.H. 93, B.Ed. 94.
Will you go back? I love going back to Kingston. Never gone back to Queen's for anything formal.
How many parking tickets have you got there? No car till I graduated; didn't need one. But I lived in Kingston for many years after that, and parking tickets were $7.
Ever gotten arrested? Nope.

1: Purple Jesus consists of alcool and grape Koolaid, preferably mixed in a garbage can. No, really.
2: Queen's students like to dye themselves purple with gentian violet for football games. That stuff stains, yo. And if you have light hair, it stays greyish for months.
Gentian violet is also used to cure thrush. The second time I used it, I dabbed it on my nipples and Justin's mouth. It felt like a very bizarre combination of maternity and student debauchery.
When you attended, where did you live?
- Waldron Tower, AKA Wally World, a coed res that had just become a res that year. And We Had Sinks!
- 1st term, what I affectionately named the Slumpit; ghetto house with 5 other students, one of whom was my ex-boyfriend and the other of whom was my ex-best friend. I lost 20 pounds and moved to a coed res in January.
2d term, Jean Royce Hall. Thank god. - John Orr Tower, a bachelor apt shared with my friend Sharon, with other friends from res in the building.
- Still John Orr Tower, this time sharing the bachelor with the boyfriend of one of my friends.
- (B.Ed. Year) Jean Royce Hall again, as a Don. Worst. Job. Ever.
Who was your roommate?
- No roommate, just floormates. Including
ladystarstruck. And We Had Sinks! - See above. Let's not go there.
- Sharon.
- Rob, high school friend's boyfriend. Yeah, we're still friends.
- Chris, the Squatter Don. I was the Don for the people who lived at my house legally; Chris was the Don for those folks who, like him, pretty much lived there except in name.

I'm taking Psych courses (Andy would laugh!) now, one per year or so, and I swear, every year, the students get younger and younger. Oh wait, they ARE getting younger and younger since it's taking me five years to get through second year. So I get older and older as they get younger and younger.

Would you believe that their proposed solution to avoiding parties and riots during Homecoming will be to ... wait for it ... to close the street and exempt the party from noise bylaws?
Mmmslmmhmm?

LOL!

Hey, in my first year of law school we did a legal memo that involved public nudity, and my classmates started telling each other that a good case to use was "the Jacobs case." It took me a while to realize they were talking about Gwen Jacobs going topless in Guelph. They were talking about it like it was just another piece of interesting and important legal history, like Brown v. Board of Education.
I swear, I heard my hip fracture. Damn.

Date: 2006-08-25 01:49 am (UTC)Yeah, they were great. They had a song about PeeWee Herman in there somewhere. However, they were upstaged that night by Moxy, who was opening for them. According to some friends of mine, this was fair, because they had upstaged Blue Rodeo when opening for them a few years before that ;)

One of my fondest live-performance moments ever was at their concert at AJ's. They did the intro to King Of Spain, and then one of them pointed the mic at the crowd and the we yelled out "1 2 3 4!" so loud that the band kinda jumped back a little. It was a great way to start the concert.
