Boys gone fishing. Caught nothing.

Justin spent a large amount of time playing by himself in the forest, then asked us to come and look at his fort. Turned out the kid had built, all by himself, a very nice little lean-to.

Chris and Justin watching the fire. Best part of camping.

Daniel telling a story by the fire.

Justin got a huge headache the second day. Ended up going into the tent and taking a nap. ::sigh:: We so hoped Chris' family tradition of headacheyness would skip our kids. No such luck.

American toads do not give us warts. They do not pee on people. They are not ugly. We learned all of this from the Park staff. Then we caught this one and got to see all of the above close-up.

I guess the beaver who was snacking on this got a call on his cell or something, and left it half-chewed.

Another American toad, even smaller than the first.

Date: 2006-08-30 02:24 am (UTC)Hey, whatever works :)
And I have had frogs/toads pee on me, so I dunno about those park rangers! *laffs*
Apparently, 'tain't pee. It's some sort of other glandular secretion. I don't know whether I prefer to think of toad pee on my hand, or toad glandular secretions. Best not dwell on, I think ;)
