1. Wonder if there's a valid paper out there somewhere on the topic of the Liberals and how they suck prominent politicians into their cabal. I mean, just in the last eight years, Jean Charest goes from Deputy Prime Minister in Campbell's (short-lived) ruling Conservative party to Quebec Premier for the Liberals, Belinda Stronach goes from seeking out the Federal Conservative leadership to crossing the aisle right before a major election, and now Bob Rae's gone from Ontario NDP Premier to seeking the Federal Liberal leadership.
   
   Whaddup?
   
   Although in Charest's case, really, who can blame him. Not that it wasn't a great honour to be appointed interim party leader when the Conservatives lost, but really, you couldn't blame the guy for wanting to join a party where he might have a bit more clout.
   
   On the other hand, he was leader of the first Federal party to ever achieve complete gender parity in Canada. What with the Conservatives consisting solely of Charest and Elsie Wayne.

3. Chatting during our break in CivLib, group of guys, three of them Muslim and Middle-Eastern-looking, talking about airport security, one of the Muslim guys mentions, "Yeah, well you know pepper spray? Man, I didn't know it was like, illegal to bring that onto a plane!" The snapping of everyone's head to gape at him incredulously and the chorus of WHAT?! was quite funny.
   
   
4. Really don't want to write my Major Paper. I just want to write fic. Do you think I could hand in a fic called "Five (or more) Siblings That Never Happened To Draco Malfoy" and have it somehow touch on Civil Liberties?
