  • Wheeee! I got a Rosie the Riveter prezzie for Women's History Month!

    http://www.livejournal.com/gift-details.bml?uid=975354&g=2

Must remember to dress up like Rosie the Riveter this Halloween. I once met a Rosie at a Halloween party and thought she had the coolest costume ever.

'Course, I was dressed as a pregnant nun that year, so I may have won at that particular party - especially with those friends of mine who hadn't seen me for a few months and didn't know I was actually really five months pregnant. Got a few rather startled gapes from people who went to pet my fake tummy and felt a baby kick ;) Still, the Rosie idea was way cool :)

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] cabenson! I'll be passing on the gift if I can ever figure out how to get *&^%ing PayPal working for me again.

  • Homeschooling both boys is going eerily well. This is our second week, and the first doing actual full-time home schooling for both of them instead of a half-assed "well, it's a four-day week and let's take it easy on Justin for now." No major disasters so far. It's quite a lot of fun, actually. ::knock on wood::

  • [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat got me all three seasons of Star Trek: Original Series. The boys were thrilled beyond words, especially Justin, who is in love with The Trouble With Tribbles and wants to watch it again and again. (And again and again and again). I'm just glad they don't really exist; he'd want one, I'm sure. And he'd feed it.

  • Have passed by our fridge-picture of [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat Jr. several times in the last few days and chuckled to myself at the quirkiness of perception. I had just looked at it before our party and thought to myself, "Wow - he looks totally Asian in that picture. Hm." Had to laugh when [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat glanced at it during the party and said, "Wow. He looks totally white in that picture, doesn't he?" (he's half each, BTW).

  • Saw a high school friend I hadn't seen in forever and met his little boy (one week younger than [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat Jr.), whom I had never really met. Totally adorable, and looks just like his dad, which is eerie. And his little girl, now almost five, is even cuter than she was the last time I saw her, and very very girly.

  • Going to have coffee with old high school buddies this Friday. Should be fun. It's funny, the last time we got together it was such an odd mixture of the familiar and the novel; talking about jobs and kids and moves instead of parents and classes, then slipping into old patterns of teasing each other, then jarring out again with things like, "Oh, I'm not standing to be rude, I just have a bad back" or "Of course I've got a minivan, I've got four kids."

  • Will be shopping for the kids' art supplies tomorrow. In Daniel's case, this will involve buying cross-stitch embroidery thread. For Justin, we will be buying beef sirloin, orange marmalade, and a couple other spices. Yes, Justin's art project is a beef shish kebab. He's quite thrilled; neither one of them is artistic at all, and neither one is interested in drawing or painting or anything like that, but hey, browsing through Grandma Luli's "pretty-food" cookbooks and picking out artistic recipes and making them? That's his idea of art.

You are so fabulously wonderful, and so are your kids. Way to go, team homeschool!

It's amazingly neat when it works out well, isn't it? When you can honestly tell yourself "Well done!" at the end of the day :) :)

Pretty much, yeah :)

it is so nice you're re-connecting with old high school friends.
It's really bizarre, though - in a nice way, but still. Steve Norman looks identical, I swear. And he's got four kids! ::boggles:: And Asma has three, all boys. At one point we were at Anita's house and Asma, Steve and I automatically started to put away Anita's kids' toys, which prompted Judy and James, the only non-parents present, to make fun of us ;)

I'll try to send pictures at some point, if we ever take any.

i'm hoping to be in town this summer and i hope we can do a big reuion.
That would be great!
