Post from neonnurse, [Colorado] Gov. Bill Ritter signed bills into law Monday allowing gay couples to adopt, and a song on YouTube, sung by a Dutch kid who's maybe thirteen or so: Two Fathers. Although I must admit, I'm thirteen years old myself, in that I cannot stop giggling over the fact that the song is actually called "Twee Vaders" ;)

One of the good things about this bill that the righties kept ignoring is that ANY person or couple can sign on to co-adopt. So if, say, a girl has a baby and wants to stay in school, her parents (aunt, sister, whatever) can co-adopt, preserving her maternal rights but letting the child be placed on the older person's insurance plan. So it will give kids more security, encourage having babies vs abortion, and lower the taxpayer burden for Medicaid and such by reducing the need. And yet, all they could yammer on about was Teh Gays!!1!

Great news, and great song! It's so weird listening to the song in Dutch though -- I can understand about half of it, because it's so close to German.

Oh, I'm so happy for the children of Colorado ... this is going to be awesome. Let's just hope that more states follow suit.
