Have you been before? Well, I'd been climbing before, but not at this place. It was on Victoria Island in the middle of the river, in what looks like an abandoned factory.
Did you like it? Where did you climb? Gym or outside? Jeez, enough questions for you? Hee! Well, it didn't go terribly well, actually. There was one practice climb, ridiculously easy, and the rest of the climbs were so tough that Chris only got to about 3/4 of the way up on one of them and I barely got off the ground. Very frustrating. I've been climbing before, and I've always found it challenging but lots of fun and... well, doable. This was not doable, and before long, it wasn't much fun either. The footholds were barely enough to rest toes on - less than two inches wide, you really couldn't push off them or rest your weight on them at all. The handholds were larger, but mostly smooth on top, so there was nothing to grip to. And all the holds were spaced really, really far apart, so I couldn't actually reach most of them. We tried for quite a while, but eventually just packed it in. Rather disappointing.
However, it did make me want to go climbing again, and I know of another climbing place out by the St. Laurent Centre, so I'm going to see if we can go there one of these days.
