Ah, Harry Potter fandom. How I love you and your utter batsh*t insanity. Here's a quote from some board where apparently somebody was complaining that JKR is mean to Snape:

It's clear that Rowling is trying to steer her readers' reactions by her use of adjectives.

Try re-reading this scene while ignoring the adjectives, and you get a very different picture.

Here's another, from a fic that I grimly slogged through until:

"Hey George how are you?"

Those four words had never sounded so sweet.
