- It's foggy. And raining. It's been foggy and raining for the past two days, in January, Ottawa, Canada. WTF??
It's very pretty, though. And I must say that since I loathe the cold with a passion, I'm quite happy with our current weather. Or, I would be, if it weren't, you know, a sign that we kinda... broke the climate. - My Poverty class rocks. It's interesting, though, of the three Great White Men who we've read so far, the one that's impressing me the most so far is the one who's most right-wing. I don't fully buy everything he says, and a lot of it scares me, but damn, he's got some good points. And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that he uses Harry Potter extensively in his paper :)
- It's true. One of my readings, written by an economist, talks about Harry Potter.
- We rented Ratatouille. To nobody's surprise, Justin loved it (it's about a rat who wants to be a French chef). Unfortunately, he wants to try to make ratatouille, which consists mostly of vegetables and which my friends and I used to refer to as "Yuck-phtooey" (sp?) when it was served in the cafeteria at Queen's.
- ETA: Oh! I remember the other thing I was going to post. My birthday/Christmas presents from Chris and the boys are not here yet. Anybody notice how it's, like January 9th? And my birthday is before Christmas, so it's a rather substantial delay.
I want my presents. I got some really great ones from my in-laws (especially a gorgeous red top that I'm dying to find an occasion to wear, and a gift certificate to a spa that I'm saving for after my January course is done... maybe Chris and I will go on an actual date then), but my present from the boys was the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD. Which has been out since the beginning of December at Future Shop and thus mocks us every time we go. We are sad.
Amazon, by the way, are giving Chris quite the runaround on this. Said runaround includes the phrase "once it's in the shipper's hands, there's nothing we can do" and a totally useless tracking number that doesn't actually track anything, and a random change of the "last possible delivery date" from December 27 to January 7 - which, if you'll notice, has already swept past. Oh, and they agreed to refund Chris' $16 for "expedited delivery," because they could tell he'd been "such a good customer" in the past. Excuse me?
