Veggie night
May. 29th, 2008 09:22 pmWe are very concerned about the environment. We are very concerned about our health. We feel that part of how we can help both the planet and our bodies is to go as veggie as we can, as often as we can. It's difficult, but we try whenever possible to minimize meat, and find tasty, healthy meat-free alternatives. It's even better if we can use vegetables and fruits that are locally grown.
Tonight we ate vegetarian for dinner. We had broccoli, corn on the cob, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and blueberry pie.
We feel very virtuous now.
ETA: Oh for the love of...
::deep breath:: OK, just in case anybody was in doubt as to the tone of the above, that was a joke. Yes, we understand that a meal that consists of three kinds of pie is not actually virtuous. We don't eat like this all the time. We just hadn't had pie in a very long time, and wanted to celebrate me not studying for the Bar all the time any more. We started joking with the kids that it was health food, and thought we'd share the joke on lj as well. Sorry for the confusion.

Date: 2008-05-30 06:23 am (UTC)We have a song at my house for when we eat brownies for breakfast. The other morning when I made this post (http://linaelyn.livejournal.com/1482029.html) it was another case of lack-of-sarcasm-detection, but that one was totally my fault for attempting sarcasm in a post by someone who said they were having a very very very bad day. Wrong place, wrong time for attempted internet humor.

Date: 2008-05-30 01:51 am (UTC)Did not know such a thing was possible. Not liking pie. Whoa.
Then again, my mom didn't like chocolate, and I don't like ice cream, so I suppose it is possible.
We actually have a jar of mincemeat and had joked about having protein in our meal using that in a pie, but then we got into this granola-ness and the joke kinda took off from there ;)
