But the main opposition Liberal Party indicated after an emergency meeting that although it would be hobbled by the move, it would likely not bring down the government over it at a time of economic crisis.
It's like I told Chris: the Tories probably knew they would emerge from the last election with yet another minority government, but they also knew that even if they did, they'd be able to stay in power for the next few years without too much trouble. Because who the hell would want to be responsible for pushing a non-confidence vote and triggering yet another federal election?!
