Hope those of y'all who celebrate Christmas are having a great holiday, and those of you who don't are also having a nice few days too :) :) We're exhausted and having a ball here in Orlando and feeling rather grateful for a lot of stuff. Aside from our regular gratitude for being incredibly wealthy compared to almost the entire planet just by virtue of being North American, we're also feeling a huge amount of gratitude for being able to come to Disney World, at a time when even most North Americans are feeling the pinch. It's rather sobering to think about whenever we look at the news.
More frivolously, we have also spent the last few days incredibly grateful to be Canadian. Because the temperature right now is apparently unpleasantly chilly for most of the locals and other tourists, but it's A-OK for us, which means that yesterday we spent most of our day at Blizzard Beach waterpark and, on one of the busiest times of the season, had to deal with almost no lines whatsoever. I think the only people at the park were Americans from the north and midwest, Canadians, and Brits. It was unbelievable.
Went to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon and it was a lot closer to what I was expecting, crowds-wise. We still managed to see and do most of what we wanted to see and do.
The day before had also been chilly. We went to Animal Kingdom, and had a great time, while a whole bunch of the workers walked around in long pants, jackets, and gloves.
Incidentally, anybody who wants to go to Animal Kingdom anytime soon and hears about a new overly-hyped ride called Mount Everest? It's not over-hyped. Trust me. One of the best rides I've ever been on. WOW.
Quote of the day, from Chris as he stands in line in the crowded Guest Services section of Animal Kingdom (area for complaints/logistics help): "This [section of the park] is not the Happiest Place on Earth. This is like the embassy for the regular world, within the Happiest Place."
