- Anyone who owns a GPS? Take a look at the display when you're driving through a large parking lot. It looks like you're floating in midair. The boys and I found it most amusing. Then again, they're nine and twelve. Don't know what my excuse is.
- I find it amusing when I'm reminded that Ottawa's a bilingual city, because mostly that fact is just part of my background. Today I was driving out east in Orleans (pronounced Orleens by Anglos) with the GPS telling me where to go. Had to look up to read when it told me to turn on St Laurent (pronounced Saint LOrrent) and then Jeanne D'Arc (Jeen Dark) and St Joseph (Saint JOseph). I live almost exclusively in the Anglo world, but we all pronounce the streets Senn LuhRAN, Jahn Dar', and Senn JuhZEF. Not quite the French way, but close enough.
- Ironically, Justin and Daniel have dropped French for the time being. Justin because it's too hard for him, and produces almost no benefit whatsoever (after three years he still doesn't know how to say man or woman in French) and Daniel because he's picked up German. As have I. Das Auto ist blau. Die Kinder springen. I probably just mangled that.
- Justin's being tested for generic learning disabilities. Will meet with the psychologist on Tuesday. I really hope there's something that can be done about his memory, reading, and writing, because I'm at my wits end here.
- Got a mouthguard! Yay! Hopefully I'll still have all my teeth after Saturday. This is why I was driving out in Orleans; that's where the martial arts store is ;)
- Feeling particularly isolated lately, and it's my own fault. Boo.
- So far it's been a rather cold and wet spring. Today I was horrified to see a pile of snow outside a building. Didn't know it was that cold!
...it was a hockey arena. ::facepalm::
