Well, you really can't tell from the icon (and Facebook doesn't even have an icon, so whatever) but we're now red stripes. There's symbolism attached to each belt colour, and a red belt (which is the last level before black) means Danger. As in, you have enough knowledge of TKD to be dangerous. And you must warn others of this danger. Or understand your own dangerousness. Or... something that I should probably learn before becoming a red belt.

We're not red belts. But we're halfway there: blue belts with red stripes. Therefore, we are only partly dangerous. Risky, if you will.

Also: will not be going to TKD tomorrow morning :)

I've managed to get to red-with-black-tips (stripes, tips, there's just a few letters difference, really), and from what I understand, red is the sign for danger, but it's also the time that control is crucial. You're Billy Badass now, but it's like having basic training in something. I'll equate it to a gun, but I've never learned, so the analogy could suck.

Basically, you have the basic gun training -- you know where the safety is, you know which end the bullet comes out of, you know how to load it, cock it, fire it (and wow does that sound really inappropriate), but at the same time, you still need marksman training. You're dangerous enough that you know how to fire it, but can you hit the target you're aiming for, or could you hurt someone else by mistake?

At least, that's the way I figure it. *^^*

It's so interesting how the belts go in different order depending on the martial art you're studying! Congrats on moving on to the next step. My nephew just recently (well, maybe a few months ago) became a junior black belt (pretty sure he studies Kenpo Karate like I used to) only because he's not 18 yet.

(snarkhunter and I were trying to figure out how long you guys have been doing TKD, because it didn't seem like that long. Then I realized how old Daniel and Justin were when I first met you and suddenly felt Very Old Indeed.)
