RIP Old Clunker
Nov. 15th, 2009 09:41 pmMy life flashed before my eyes today. Well, my e-life, anyway. My clunky old computer, that my mom bought in 2003 and that gets slower every day, decided it didn't care for this "mouse" thing attached to it, and refused to let me do anything with it. E-mail, write, log on… anything. We tried many different mice. No dice.
Chris, with what I'm sure was superhuman effort, avoided saying "I told you so" ('cause he's been telling me to get a Mac for ages) and helped me get things set up so I could do a little bit on it, tabbing around like an idiot. But it's time to get a new computer. The old one has been purged of just about everything I want to get rid of, but it's still all full and old and decrepit and needs to go to e-heaven.
::sigh::
Just in time for a fic deadline, too. Marvelous.

Date: 2009-11-16 06:07 am (UTC)If you choose to buy a non-Mac, go with something that moves, and skip Vista right into the Windows 7. If you don't want Windows, I hear Ubuntu is pretty nice. :)
I hope the fic survived. . . .

Date: 2009-11-17 02:35 pm (UTC)The fic survived, though it was unbelievably slow going doing the final edits with only tab keys working. Still. It's done, handed in, gone, woot!

Date: 2009-11-16 02:03 pm (UTC)Ubuntu is nice, but if you're not a Unix-head, it might require more 'under the hood' upkeep than you're used to (it continues to drive me crazy in some regards).
