Walking in a Winter Wonderland
Nov. 30th, 2003 01:55 pmWent to pick up Chris from call, then to pick up boots for Justin, then for a walk in the woods. Second day of snow, and the kids are still quite hyper about it. Oh to be young and thrilled with snow. I look at it and just think of the utter joy of having to keep track of mitts and gloves and all that fun stuff.
Apparently, yesterday I was the only parent who sent their kids to day camp with winter gear. Kate was quite panicked, because she'd brought sleds for them and was facing the first day of snow with ten children cooped up inside. However, she called her husband and he brought extra hats, mitts, etc.
A little disturbing, though. I mean, I packed extra stuff in case one or two parents were taken unawares by the first day of snow. But... all of them? Blimey.

Feeling a little worried about
cassatt. She's said that she wants to spend more time offline, but she hasn't posted anything or answered her e-mail in many days. Does anybody know if she's OK?

There's a huge brouhaha brewing over the Federal Canadian Alliance (ultra-right) and Progressive Conservatives (vanilla right), who are in negotiations to merge into one party. It's hit a snag, though - a top ranking Alliance pol made a bunch of rather unfortunate comments in an interview the other day, calling for the re-criminalization of homosexuality, comparing gays to pedophiles, and accusing them of trying to lure young boys into gayness. The moderate Tories are freaking. The pol has been asked to resign, and the Alliance leader is distancing himself and his party from him and his remarks.
I know it's mean, but I can't help giggling - well, actually, cackling gleefully - at all of this. Not being right-wing, it's hilarious to me to see them unable to agree on anything, and hitting pothole after pothole in their quest to Unite the Right. Apologies to any conservatives reading this. It just makes me happy in a petty sort of way ;)
