My tongue is on fire. Justin grew peppers this year, and he offered me a piece. I took less than the tip of my finger - like, a tiny, tiny nibble. I have eaten half a tub of yoghurt - a lot of it just holding the yoghurt on my tongue for a long time - and, five minutes later, my tongue is finally no longer acutely painful. It's just sore as hell. And my nose is runny.

The peppers are not just organic; they have never had more than water on them. No bug has come within fifty feet of them, so all the egg shells and soap and tea and other bug-repellent things Chris and Justin usually end up using have been totally unnecessary.

I think maybe next year we'll have the pepper plants surround the rest of the garden.

I grew some peppers like that last year. Luckily I stopped with a tiny lick of a tiny piece of pepper. Still needed several spoonfuls of yogurt to get my mouth back to normal.

What did you do with them? Because I'm thinking we're obviously going to have to make salsa et al, but we've got a lot of peppers, and I'm thinking one per jar just might be more than enough...

We let ours return to the soil. Even my husband who normally finds nothing too hot to eat wouldn't eat them. From here on out we're growing sweet peppers only.

Ouch. That sounds painful, but at least you have a bug free plant! Did anyone else try them?

Justin burned himself too, Daniel refused to try them at all, and Chris tried one and said, "Huh. Not that hot."

Which was funny, 'cause he didn't look drunk, but that's the only explanation I can come up with for that ;)
