Went skating today. I wasn't too sure if we should go, because Justin was an unholy little terror last time and it ended up being a nightmare, and I don't want to be one of those parents who has a certain fantasy of what Good Family Time is supposed to be and inflicts that vision on the whole family whether they like it or not.
But. We decided to bring Justin's boots along in case he didn't want to skate, and bring the sled along, and have plenty of beavertails. And off we went.
And we were there for 1 1/2 hours of cold, tiring, uncomfortable fun ;) Daniel skated until he didn't want to skate any more. My legs and behind are crampy. My feet hurt. We spent $17.25 on beavertails. Justin hardly skated at all, but spent most of his time on the sled. I didn't realize it was Winterlude time, so we missed all sorts of activities - skating demonstrations, kite-flying, etc etc etc.
And yet it was exactly what I'd hoped we could do - have fun on the Canal as a family. The ice was beautiful, the sun was shining, almost all of Ottawa was out there... ::happy sigh::
