Phew.

Busy day today. In keeping with my resolve to get the heck out of the house with the young'uns as much as possible, yesterday we visited Daniel and Justin's friends Noah and Oscar, then went to the TD bank to sort out my mom's accounts there, and today we went to a homeschooling chess-playing club, then to the HongKong bank (same thing), then hung out downtown for a few hours. And lo and behold, the day has gone by in the wink of an eye.

Which was the name of the Old Trek episode where Kirk is kidnapped by beings who live in hyperspeed, because their own men are sterile (gasp! unspeakable topic even in the free Sixties) and their women needed some Hot Kirk Lovin' in order to breed. And perhaps because Kirk's unfortunate tendency to, um, hyperspeed into the bedroom (and in the bedroom too, but that's another story) had become legendary even to them, but they were one species that was down with that.

But I digress.

Tomorrow: mostly packing for camping. For this weekend. Yaaay!! I am so looking forward to this.

Whyyyy do people insist on drawing other people into their squabbles? Especially inter-family squabbles?

No, I won't go into details. After a phone call where the above happened, I had an interesting little euphemistic conversation with Chris over dinner (kids were there, and we sure as hell didn't want them getting drawn in) over how ironic it is that often, the feuding party who is trying to draw you in the hardest is the party you most feel like telling, "Dude, don't make me pick. You won't like who I pick. 'Cause it ain't you. It wouldn't have been you before you started slagging the other side, and this sure as hell is not helping your cause."

Oh, and also? Holding on to grievances for decades on end? Waste of time. Deal with it and move on, people. You may not be willing/able to work it out with the party that (allegedly) hurt you, but at the very least, work it out with yourself as much as you can. Because still nursing the wound decades later as if it happened yesterday? Is wasteful and sad.

That is all.
