Soooo geeky that I just made our family a website. I've been half-assedly putting it together for about two years, and I finally got sick of seeing the half-built pieces lounging around on my hard drive. So in the last two days I finally pulled myself together and finished it.

There. Phew.

Unfortunately right now it's mostly just me as opposed to "us", but maybe seeing his teeny tiny area looking wimpy next to mine will shame Chris into contributing too :)

Good last day of summer vacation, despite the rather grey weather. We mostly just stayed inside and puttered, with the exception of a family walk down to Dairy Queen. We read The Hobbit, the kids played in the sprinkler a bit, we made chocolate zucchini cake, Daniel talked about Dungeons and Dragons all.day.long, and Justin ate more than half of an entire quiche all by himself. We were a little skeptical when he said he wanted thirds, but as he put it, "If I can eat three oatmeals all by myself, I can eat three quiches all by myself."

I boggle. And fear. He eats helpings that would make a longshoreman proud, and then apparently converts it all into sound and energy, because he's not fat.

Speaking of helpings, can I say (without anybody hitting me) that it's very, very nice to be able to eat treats without worrying about the diet, and, more importantly, without wanting to eat more? After so long eating mostly healthy, my body has grown accustomed to reasonable helpings and it's not a struggle to avoid that second piece of cake. I was really hoping this would happen, because it sucks to always want more food than what you're supposed to eat.

And now, from [livejournal.com profile] tobiascharity, the icon meme! )
