Sotired.
Volunteered at Justin's class. According to his teacher, he was more distractable but less loud than usual. Which is... frankly, stunning. Other than getting up to hug me a few times during circle time, he was almost eerily well-behaved. Quick to do what the teacher said, totally engaged and interested in everything going on, answering questions, playing nicely with the other kids... ::shaking head in bemusement::
Picked up Daniel at lunch time, we had lunch at home, then went to the Museum of Nature to meet April and her kids. The Museum is essentially being torn down for the next couple of years, but the Creepy Critters and the Earth & Dinosaur exhibits were still there, and since that's about 90% of what we go to see anyway, it worked out OK. And I ran into a part-time homeschooling mom who's doing the same thing as me - taking her son out of school (grade 1) every so often. She also has a 3 year old daughter and twin 13-month old sons, so she and her husband decided the eldest would get very little out of being at home with her, and sent him to school.
I had the weirdest feeling, talking to her. We knew each other briefly a few years ago, when I first moved to Ottawa. And we were both talking about having a third child. She did, and I didn't. And yet, looking at her lugging around these little guys... um, yeah. There is something to be said for full nights of sleep. And being able to go to school. And all the other stuff she won't have for a long, long time.
Back to our house with Garrett, and the boys had a lovely time playing together while I caught up on some EnvLaw readings and finished Daniel's costume. I'm almost done. YAY!!
Now: dinner, homework, more Law Reviewing & reading, bed.
