Justin: How much is two times two?
Me: (holding up two fingers on one hand and two on the other)
Justin: One, two, three, four. Four! So if we have a recipe that says use four eggs, I could just use two double-yolk eggs!
Justin wanders off, pleased with his discovery. I join Chris in the kitchen.
Me: He's supposed to learn his numbers up to ten this year. Instead he's learning about multiplication.
Chris: Yeah, I heard. (pause) And notice that of course it has to do with food.

The boys are watching Country Mouse and City Mouse on TVO Kids. Chris is talking - then he pauses, looks confused, shakes his head, and continues with what he was saying.
Me: What?
Chris: No, it couldn't have been what I thought.
Me: What?
Chris: I thought I heard the Country Mouse say "We have to stop this subversive talker."
Me: Heh - no, not likely. Not on a kids' show.
Pause
Chris: She clearly said, "We have to stop this perverted stalker."
