Jan. 6th, 2005 09:34 pm... then my polite smile and politely unenthusiastic "Uh-huh" in response to one of my classmates in Critical Race Theory class today would have said the following:
"Sweetie, it's great that you've discovered racism and discrimination - and all by yourself, too. I commend you on your transcending your young Ontarian Aryan middle-class male background and taking the time to explore the lives and situations of those less priviledged than yourself. It's wonderful that you're taking this class, it's too bad that there are only seven of us and you're the only male, you are to be congratulated on your racial/ethnic/gender sensitivity, it's great that you're engaged and involved in this class and that you constantly challenge assumptions - society's, the prof's, and even your own - we're all very very proud of you, but now please for the Love of God SHUT UP!!!!"
