My son's life flashed before my eyes...

...and it wasn't nearly long enough.

Being slightly dramatic here, because while he could have been seriously injured, it's doubtful he would've been killed. Still. Next time you're cursing some idiot biker for not following the rules of the road, depending on what stupid thing he/she is doing, try to ask yourself whether that biker or somebody near and dear to him/her maybe has had enough of the near-misses caused by following the rules of the road, when the cars around him or her don't bother to give him or her the same consideration, and has opted to follow his/her own ideas on how to stay safe despite the laws.

See, when a biker screws up, usually it's annoying and could be dangerous to them and to the paint job of the cars around them. And to the nerves of fellow commuters.

When a car screws up, it can kill the biker.

I have an entire bike rant on this, but should probably leave it till it's not filled with exclamation points and profanity based on this morning.
