Chris' grandma
Jun. 2nd, 2003 08:34 amChris' grandma died on Saturday - we found out Sunday. Not a shock, but still sad. So he's going in to work this morning, coming back around lunchtime, and leaving for Calgary this evening. The funeral is tomorrow. Chris' brother David will be on the same flight, although he's catching the plane in Montreal. Chris comes back Thursday night.
Chris is taking it pretty well, although he's understandably upset. He was fairly close to his grandma when he was little - in fact, she took care of him and his older brother Michael for a year when their mother's second marriage was on the rocks. I'm glad he'll get to go to the funeral and have some sort of closure. I wish I'd been able to do that when my grandmother died, but as she was in Chile, that would've been a little difficult. It still would've been nice, especially since her own son didn't bother to go.
I hope the family does OK at the funeral, although my mother has always said that weddings and funerals are where you see the best and the worst of human behaviour. Hopefully all the different strong personalities gathered can try to not kill each other while they're all under stress.
