Ides of March...

... as in, beware of them.
That's from Shakespeare, right? Excuse me for an uncultured git, but you know when you get a sudden niggly feeling that you're utterly unsure of something basic?

I have in my possession The Canadian Encyclopedic Digest (Ontario) 3d Edition 8A, Damages - Defamation. It weighs approximately 800 pounds. I have no idea where it came from - it's not for any of my classes, I didn't take it out of the library, and it's not a call number for the area of the library I was searching through today.
I swear some day I'm going to be arrested for shoplifting, and nobody will believe me when I plead guilty to bubbleheadedness, not guilty to larceny. The last time I walked off with something, it was a Bin Shopping basket from the grocery store. And before that, a set of (very ugly) Thank You cards from a stationery store. And before that, a very cheapo flowery mug from Sincerely Yours.
If I must go stealing, why can't I steal something nice?
I'm also a little freaked out by this because last night I wandered onto an unintentional badfic collection, and you know unintentional badfics always have people leaving notes or jewellery or stuff in other people's things. So now I'm wondering if Gandalf is trying to tell me something cryptic and learned, or maybe Jack McCoy is telling me he's set his sights on me to be his next McCoy Toy, or Draco Malfoy has placed some bizarre torts-based curse on me.

Watching The Matrix with Chris yesterday, we're on the part where Neo is called by Morpheus on his cell, and Morpheus tells him he's in danger and has to leave his place of work right now. Chris remarks, "Wouldn't it be great to have sound quality like in the movies? I mean, if that was the real world, he'd be yelling into his cell, 'What?! WHO's coming after me?!! Speak UP!!' ::pause:: In danger of my LIFE?! What?! Wait, I can't hear you, I'm at my cubicle!!"
And Morpheus would yell back, "Your CUTICLE??!! WHat are you TALKING about?! LISTEN to me!!"

I took Daniel to his babysitter's this morning, Chris took Justin to day care, and we happened to catch up to each other on the Queensway. Grinned and waved at one another, then sped off our separate ways. And I mulled it over later, and realized things have been going amazingly well lately. After so long with rough times... I tried to think of when was the last time we had a really bad fight, and couldn't remember. Then I realized I couldn't remember the last time we had a serious disagreement. The closest I can come to is a rather unpleasant time around when our friends from Montreal were in Ottawa, but even that resolved relatively OK.
Huh.

Realized that in one month I will be free, free, free of school. So I resolved to duck down and study like mad until then. And not waste any time on the internets, or ficreading, or anything like that.
You can see how well that resolve is playing out.

Date: 2005-03-15 11:44 pm (UTC)(Don't worry--all day I've been worried that it isn't *actually* the ides and I totally made an ass of myself by declaring it such in my journal, even though I know the 15th of March is the Ides--but most months, it's actually the 13th. Just not in March.)
