Mistakenly bought far too many eggs. Best find some eggnog recipes. Soon.
Or I could make Cola de mono
(traditional Chilean drink, kinda like Chilean eggnog)
But then I'd still have too many eggs. Oh well.
I went looking for the exact text of one of my favourite political quotes, and found it:
It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.
- Hubert H. Humphrey
In finding it, I also ran into a bunch of other neat things he said. Quotable guy.
"The right to be heard does not autmatically include the right to be taken seriously."
"Compassion is not weakness, and concern for the unfortunate is not socialism."
"Behind every successful man is a proud wife and a surprised mother-in-law."
"Unfortunately, our affluent society has also been an effluent society."
"We believe that to err is human. To blame it on someone else is politics."
- Got our pictures back from Sears the other day:

- Fell in love with a French bookstore near the Market. Bought real French schoolbooks! For real! Now Daniel can learn about the futur proche and passé composé and, um, so can I, 'cause grade eight was a while ago for me.
- Did about two million-jillion loads of laundry. Socks are darned useful in wintertime. Get it? Darned? Oh I kill me sometimes.
- Discovered another really cute HP fic, again by
mistful, an alternate reality Philosopher's Stone/Chamber of Secrets where Draco Malfoy was sorted into Ravenclaw.- "I need to get something cleared up, this incompetent piece of haberdashery has entirely misunderstood me-"
- "This is a place of education, Terry! There shouldn't be any rampaging trolls, we don't have any classes in being agonisingly smushed to death!"
- Draco gave a cry of righteous outrage.
"You sound like an enraged teakettle," Terry told him. Draco should've known better than to get chummy with a speccy boy, they were all tarred with the same evil brush. - "Invoke the power of your amulet to bar the doors!"
"It's an inhaler, Draco, for the last time."
Draco didn't know why Anthony insisted on using fancy words for his demon of the air, but he had more important things on his mind.
- "I need to get something cleared up, this incompetent piece of haberdashery has entirely misunderstood me-"
(traditional Chilean drink, kinda like Chilean eggnog)

- pinch nutmeg
- some kind of alcohol - pisco or aguardiente, to taste
- Boil together milk, cinammon, sugar, peel.
- Take milk off boil, add coffee.
- Beat egg yolk, add to milk once milk is no longer boiling.
- Add vanilla, cloves, nutmeg.

Oh, good old Hubert Humphrey. Minnesota can be proud of him. We even named an airport terminal after him.
I actually once spent a good hour talking to his son, "Skip" Humphrey. He was trying to straighten out a ticketing problem, and we had such a good chat while I was on hold with various reservations agents. He was a really nice person who actually listened to the opinions of a lowly airport ticket agent. Obviously his father raised him well. :)
