We're back!

Travelled through the night and got back to Ottawa at 8AM. Thank god for older kids. They made their own lunch while Chris slept and I vegged. There are mountains of smoky laundry to process and a cat newly back from her first boarding experience and groceries to buy. More details and pix later, I hope.

(Me, Justin, Mark, Daniel, Chris, my dad, Emma, Trinh)
(If you want to see a family tree, that'll cost you extra)
ETA: I lied:

...and let me tell you, Mark and I had an entertaining time explaining the family tree to the unsuspecting kayak guide who asked us who was who on the first day. I think she thought we were lying when we told her the three siblings on the trip were the two of us and Emma. And when we told her my mom was Chilean, Mark's was Greek, and Emma's was Vietnamese. And that there were actually two more siblings, who just weren't with us on this trip.

Date: 2008-08-27 10:02 pm (UTC)Oh we did, in Vancouver. We were there about three days before heading for the trail. Dennis stayed in Vancouver with a caregiver; he's fairly little, and autistic - though he makes eye contact and communicates sometimes, and has a really cute grin :) - and it really wouldn't have been fun for him.

Date: 2008-09-03 03:55 am (UTC)Yeah, it really did.
I can't wait to see pictures/hear stories! We had a great time seeing you!
So did we :) :) :)
And speaking of pictures, I have a couple of your kids, but I never post pictures of other people's kids without their permission, so... let me know if it's OK/not OK?

Date: 2008-08-28 03:50 pm (UTC)And Justin! Look how big he is! Is he taller than Daniel, or just more solid? (Remembering my own childhood...and my utter inability to convince the world that *I* was the older sibling, and, no, we weren't twins.)

Date: 2008-09-01 03:00 am (UTC)Yeah, she is. And fun and very cool to talk to :)
And Mark, yeah, he really is, isn't he? He's gone into acting, so that's a very good thing :) And he's a very cool uncle/big brother; had an amazing amount of patience with them during the trip.
And Justin! Look how big he is! Is he taller than Daniel, or just more solid?
LOL almost! I think right now he's 1/2" shorter. And outweighs him by 20 pounds.

Hee. The first time I was asked if I had twins, Daniel was four and Justin was one. Granted, I think the asker was either a bit blind or high, but still, it wasn't that outlandish a question to ask ;)
