Come on, vamonos
Oct. 8th, 2003 09:24 amFeeling incredibly relieved. Camping OK.
Justin's playing his brand-new Dora the Explorer game. Kids are so neat - so very transparent. I told him we had a surprise for him, and he kept asking what it was all morning. Then about twenty minutes ago I finally had everything set up (bread baking, laundry washing, dishwasher loaded, etc) and I installed the game.
One look and Justin was in love. He loves watching Dora on TV, and seeing her come to life on his computer screen is thrilling the heck out of him. I think he's said, "This is a GREAT surprise!!" about five times so far :)
Have to finish off my ADR assignment (ugh!) and then we're going down to Fabricland to pick up cloth for the Halloween costumes. I really feel like I should have my head examined for wanting to do this, but Justin's so enthused at the thought of making his own costume that it's hard to feel anything but happy about it.
Oh, and the "one of these things is not like the others" meme?
I guess I don't come across as a sailor, because you guys guessed it. It was #5. Although I probably could have done it, since I lived in Kingston for 11 years and sailing from Wolfe Island (across from Kingston) to Watertown would've taken about 10 minutes.

Date: 2003-10-08 07:45 am (UTC)I LOVE Kingston. That's one of my favorite towns in all of Canada. My family and I take the ferry up there at least ten times a summer, and I go with my friends when I can get a ride. It's just so much fun to ride the ferry, and then to wander around Kingston.
Also, the story I just finished for my workshop? Set on the ferry from Wolfe Island to Kingston. :-D Whee, coincidence!

Yeah, that is a coincidence. I didn't realize you were that close to the border. Did you ever go to Fort Henry? Because if you went there in the summer of '94, I was working as a Domestic Interpreter.
It's funny, I knew Kingston was a pretty town when I lived there, but until I moved away I hadn't realized just how beautiful parts of it are. The waterfront is gorgeous. The campus is lovely. Princess St. is beautifully quaint. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder, I guess.

Date: 2003-10-08 12:58 pm (UTC)We're not REALLY really close to the border, but Watertown's only about half an hour away and so whenever we could get a ride we'd head on over and catch the ferry.
